Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment designed to help children and adolescents, along with their parents or caregivers, who are affected by trauma. This treatment model combines trauma-sensitive interventions with elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, and humanistic approaches. TF-CBT has been shown to be effective for children and adolescents (ages 3 to 18) experiencing emotional challenges—such as symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, fear, depression, and behavioral issues—stemming from traumatic experiences.
